Action Health Incorporated (AHI) is proud to support the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and Global Citizen ongoing #ShowYourSelfie campaign to show world leaders that the needs and rights of young people must be a priority in the post-2015 development agenda.
With Nigeria’s young people confronted with major issues that include adolescent pregnancy, HIV/AIDS, gender-based violence, and lack of access to sexual and reproductive health services, the #ShowYourSelfie campaign provides a unique opportunity to increase global awareness and action on challenges facing young people in Nigeria and across Sub-Saharan Africa.
Moving forward, AHI will integrate the #ShowYourSelfie campaign with the ongoing distribution of free copies of the newly revised Family Life and HIV Education (FLHE) Student’s Handbook to Junior Secondary Schools across Lagos State. In addition, young people who attend activities organized at AHI’s youth centre will also have the opportunity to take part in #ShowYourSelfie.
AHI recognizes that young people’s participation is a pre-condition for sustainable development. Thus, we are calling on the international community, including governments, civil society organizations and the private sector, to join our efforts to help build sustainable youth capacity for participation and leadership, particularly around their sexual and reproductive health and rights. Young people around the world are counting on us. We must not let them down.
