Action Health Incorporated with funding from the UNFPA organized high level consultation meetings to launch the rollout of Sayana Press Injectable Contraceptive in Akwa-Ibom, Abia and Cross River States from November 1st - 3rd, 2016 respectively.

Ahead of a community-based promotion of Sayana Press injectable contraceptives, in Abia, Akwa Ibom and Cross River States, Action Health Incorporated (AHI) has commenced a Training-of-Trainers (ToT) workshop for the Sayana Press Project.

Following the approval of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria and Federal Ministry of Health to integrate principles of Adolescent and Youth Friendly Health Services (AYFHS) into its curriculum, 18 educators from the six geopolitical zones in the country were selected as the first crop of educators to be orientated about the course content.

To enhance the delivery of Adolescent Youth-Friendly Healthcare Service (AYFHS), Action Health Incorporated with support from Champions for Change trained 25 healthcare providers and members of the Ward Health Committee in Apapa Iganmu Lagos.

In recent times, the use of substances has been identified as a risk–taking behaviour among adolescents and young adults. Moreover, Young people who persistently abuse substances often experience an array of problems, including academic difficulties, health-related problems (including mental health), poor peer relationships amongst others.

Healthcare providers play a critical role in providing services to young people as such, it is important that they are adequately trained on how to deliver Adolescent Youth-Friendly Healthcare Services (AYFHS).

Action Health Incorporated (AHI) in collaboration with the Lagos State Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA) organized a 4 Week Short Term Skill Acquisition Training Programme for Out-Of-School Adolescent Girls (14-19 years) in Ijora Badia, Apapa Iganmu LCDA.

November 14, 2015 was an eventful day as the annual Teenage Festival of Life (TFL) was held at the University of Lagos Main Auditorium. The event had over 1500 students in attendance, as well as the Finland Ambassador to Nigeria Suomela-Chowdhury, and Representative of the Deputy Governor, among others.

Despite an increase in the number of programmes supporting girl-child education and empowerment in Lagos state, out-of-school adolescent girls living in slum communities remain marginalized.

As part of efforts to stop underage smoking, Action Health Incorporated (AHI) held a one-day smoking prevention programme on June 18, 2015 for students of 12 public secondary schools in Kaduna state.

The outreach, with the goal to educate students on adolescent health issues including sexually transmitted infections and adolescent development, is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the implementation of FLHE in Junior Secondary schools in Lagos state.

In promoting the well-being and development of out-of-school adolescent girls in Makoko, AHI in partnership with the Lagos State Agency for Mass Education and the Makoko community launched a two-year Out-of-School Adolescent Girls’ Empowerment Programme on June 17, 2014.
