Today, AHI hosted some children, [adolescents and young people] to mark the national Children’s Day. One of the activities required the participants to collaboratively write poems on the theme “Unite For Peace In Nigeria, Unite For Children.”
Here are two of the poems submitted by the children:
1.
Tears string my eyes any time I think
About the instability
The death of our children
I think of this and I feel nostalgic
Oh what a sharp pain in my heart
See innocent blood being shed
The peace of this country is what we children long for
Peace is what we stand for
Peace is our vision
Peace is our right!
United Nigeria, united we stand
Divided Nigeria, divided we fall
Stop child-abuse
Stop child-trafficking
United Nigeria, united we stand
Divided Nigeria, divided we fall
Please let’s come together to make peace in Nigeria
Let’s come together to stop terrorism
United Nigeria, united we stand
Divided Nigeria, divided we fall
Stop child abuse!
Out of the mouth of babes– some powerful words worth mulling over!
